At Van Eerd, we are committed to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These goals were developed to build a greener, fairer, and better world by 2030.

Specifically, we focus on:

We have a new building that is fully gas-free and equipped with 1,850 solar panels. We utilize heat recovery, optimal insulation, energy-efficient lighting, and an innovative system for data and power distribution. Green facades contribute to biodiversity and help reduce particulate matter. Additionally, at our second location, we have replaced lighting with energy-efficient alternatives and are actively working to further reduce our energy consumption.

We are committed to reducing total water usage. Over the past years, our CTP processes have been adjusted, resulting in a reduction of 1 million liters of water per year.

We are committed to waste reduction and recycling. All the cardboard we use is separated and offered for reuse. Furthermore, Van Eerd is actively working to reduce the use of chemicals in the production process and to decrease overall cardboard consumption by producing more efficiently. Reducing is, after all, better than recycling.

We see responsible purchasing as an essential part of our sustainability strategy. We take responsibility not only for our own activities but also for the impact of our supply chain. Only through partnerships do we believe we can make strides to truly impact our industry.

We place great value on social engagement as part of our sustainable business operations. We support employee initiatives active in sports clubs, contributing to the well-being of both our people and the community. We also provide regular medical check-ups for our employees, an example of how we care for their health. Furthermore, we invest in education and training to help our employees develop and strengthen their position in the labor market.

Certifications

100% FSC® certified cardboard

We produce sustainable boxes with 100% FSC-certified cardboard, fully recyclable and renewable. Since 2020, we have been FSC-certified, and from 2022 onwards, we use exclusively FSC-certified materials. This supports the FSC initiative and helps our customers achieve their CSR goals. The specifications and quality remain identical to conventional cardboard, without any impact on packaging lines.

Ecovadis medal

With 73 points, we rank in the top 6% of sustainably assessed companies globally in our industry – a performance we are proud of! EcoVadis evaluates us on ecological, social, and ethical performance. This score helps us continuously improve and make our business processes even more sustainable.

Sedex membership

Since 2022, we have been a member of Sedex, demonstrating our commitment to responsible sourcing and better labor conditions in our supply chain. Sedex provides tools and a global network to ensure ethical standards and protect people within the supply chain.

SBTi certified

We have validated our climate goals based on scientific insights according to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). Our scope 1 GHG emissions are now at 0. For scope 2, we have already achieved our goal of a 50% reduction since 2018. We are now actively working on mapping our scope 3 emissions so we can take action accordingly.
